Our friends at the Location Managers Guild of Great Britain would like you all to know that the UK Government are about to propose restrictions on
photography in public places which could make street photography and documentary
photography against the law.

There's a petition on the Downing St website against the Government's
proposals to restrict the use of photography in public areas.

This is not the case at all. There is NO proposed Legislation, Act of Parliament or Bill in preparation for the restriction of photography.

This is just misinformation and scaremongering.

If too many people sign the petition it might make 'them' do something we don't want.

Legislation to inhibit the freedom to look around and record what we see would be draconian, but also extremely difficult to enforce. Surely the best thing is to be aware of your rights as both a photographer and as an individual, and not be bullied into submission by those who think they know otherwise.
