Hi there, I am interested in improving my interior shots when a flash is needed. I was wondering if anybody has experience using smaller portable umbrellas to use with a flash, or can advise on ones they have used and their effectiveness.

I have a Canon Speedlite 580EX II, that I am using with my EOS 400d at the moment, I am using a diffuser, but would like to get more light thrown in certain circumstances over more distance if I can (i.e. bride and bridegroom stationary shots). Any help would be most welcome. Thanks.

I had the same problem and jury rigged a systemI use my flash on remote, bought a clamp that has a shoe that fits the flash, bought another do-hickey that fits an umbrella that also sits on a stand, and clamped the flash on it.

Having said this, i am thinking it is time to buy one of those soft boxes that fit on the flash.
