I often get asked about this picture and I know that many of the photographers here probably know how I did it. But for those of you just getting into photography let me explain. It's really quite simple...

This shot was taken on a relatively long exposure (1/4 second). The trick is to zoom while the shutter is open. I know 1/4 of a second doesnt seem like its long enough but if you're fast enough you'll get it. Its best taken with a lens that has some sort of Vibration reduction (to keep the lines straight) or you could use a tripod.

Play around with the amount that you zoom and whether or not you start out far and then zoom in or start out close and then zoom out. Each has its own effect.

Happy shooting!
